While at a campaign event in New Hampshire, Dr. Ben Carson took questions from the audience in attendance. It was the usual balance of social conservatives with Tea Party conspiracists as to be expected at a Carson event.
One older gentleman slowly made his way up to the microphone to ask the presidential candidate a question. He asked:
“What are we going to do about all these women who think it is their right to have an abortion? Don’t they realize they need to forget about themselves and focus on the fact that they’ve become pregnant? Where do these girls get off thinking they have the right to do much of anything besides birth babies?”
Carson, looking at the man gently, responded:
“Well, ya know, now, see, that’s a good question, and it raises an interesting point. These are babies. Living humans inside these women. And according to God, that’s really the only thing they are supposed to do. Women are only meant to have babies. Especially all these lower-income ladies who haven’t even worked to get their GEDs yet. What other purpose could they possibly serve? Like women are good at anything else? Haha, that’s a good one. And, yes, also, because babies are life, and hold more value than the women incubating them.”
Now, one would think this would draw audible gasps from the audience, but the crowd stood up, applauded, stuck their hands up in the air and shouted, “praise be to his Holy name” showing agreement with the neurosurgeon and his viewpoints.
When Free Wood Post questioned Carson later about his remarks, he told us that we recorded them completely out of context and that’s not at all what he meant to say.
We’ll keep you up to date as this story unfolds. Oh, and abortion is legal, in case you forgot.
