McConnell Filibusters Own Bill In Tortally Classic Shell Game

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell attempted to engage in a classic shell game with Democrats Thursday when the Kentucky Republican proposed a vote on legislation that would let the president extend the country’s borrowing limit on his own,  but then exposed the soft underbelly of Congressional politics when he tortally filibustered his own bill when the Democrats tried to bring it to a vote.

After sticking his neck out and realizing his error, he began snapping the legislation back up into its box. It became contentious, but at one point you could even terrapin drop when he was forced to leatherback down.

Similar legislation was at one time proposed by Senators Kemp and Ridley in the 1980s but then they tortoise bill up.
